that was snarky as f*ck, bilsi. Nothing Rare-Breed said deserved that kind of a response.

how are his games attractive? 57 of them?
I think Bilsi's gotten a little much blow-back in this thread. One player, with a recent history of AWOLs, starting almost 60 games, so that it's hard to find a game to join other than his, WAS worthy of questioning. And when he said no dumb questions, I took it as the old saying "there are no stupid questions" as in, it's fine to ask, so not snarky. It's a lot over a non-issue, since most of the games are slowly filling and moving off the list. And not to make a comment that IS actually snarky, but why are we talking about D12 mods and chat bans here?
Roadmap to New Server is the title of this thread... maybe Bilsi wants to suggest a limit on how many games a player can start at one time? I see lots of players start multiple games on one map that is the main one they play on. Welshmaz and Vikingnole come to mind. But, starting 5 games on every map IS a lot, and I thought it was strange too.

why can't you guys see 57 games started??? Why is everyone taking his side? I love this game but I feel like quitting with everybody's opinion...

Yes, 57 games is a LOT, especially since he did have a recent history of going awol. But, they were all games that will fill up, and in fact most have. Unusual, maybe comment-worthy by a mod, but certainly not ban-worthy. People don't get banned around here unless they cheat (multi-accounts) or are over-the-top abusive in their chat. In the big picture, really doesn't matter, does it? Lets just move on...

Yes, a limit on how many games you can start would be great. Dom12 is not an option for me...Stupid maps and stupid rules. I just logged in and realized why I don't play there. Unfortunately MC is all I have. Not much of a life :(

I see welsh starting his favorite game but he starts 5 at most. I see no problem with that...

Hey Guys/Gals.

I don't usually post updates unless there is an update to post, and while I can't offer anything substantial, there are still some minor things that happened over the last week that I will share.

As you know, we hired an agency to work on majcom back in the spring. They were underwhelming to say the least. They took several months to set up a "dev server" on their local computers, and didn't really have the knowledge base to do anything substantial with the backend code.

However, they did successfully move us to a new server, clean up and organize all the messy code, and transition us to a modern frontend. Which is great, but that was pretty much the limit of their capabilities.

So after that, it was back to our never-ending search for a decent coder. Fortunately, there was someone who was willing to take on the task, and so far he seems very promising!

His name is Ian, and he set up a "dev server" on his local computer in under a week, without any guidance from Marcos. That was something that the previous agency took two months to do, and had heaps of trouble figuring out (yeah, red flag for them). Anyway, this is definitely a promising start for Ian.

He also briefed himself on some of the documentation Marcos created and seems to have a good understanding of what the issues are, and what is required to make improvements. Again, this is something that the previous agency couldn't quite grasp.

So, we are still in our early days with a new dev again, but just to let everyone know that things haven't stopped moving forward, and we're still working on it!

Oh, and with this next phase, assuming everything goes smoothly, it will still be at least couple months before any improvements will be ready to test and roll out, so I might not have anything to report for a while. But in this case, just assume no news is good news. :)

Thanks, good luck, and have fun!

IMO incremental progress is still progress. Appreciate the update Sheriff, it's reassuring to know things continue to chug along in the background under your watch.

I think it's okay, but then again I would. I've had real life situations that removed me from here.
Cards is right. I used to make broken tournaments and giant games that took years to fill. Then I stopped doing that.
Have mercy and compassion.

In the context of controlling who joins games you mean? Absolutely!! All the good work being done to improve playability is rendered meaningless if a game starts up with an unwanted and uninvited clown who wastes everyone else’s time, either by quitting or playing dumb. We need to be able to pick and choose who plays. And this is not a “nice to have”: it’s fundamental

What is going on? Great progress on the coding side. I'll have to get in some games and see how rusty i am at all this. 10 years since i joined, but ive been away 3 years... Good to see the familiar names still here.
