Thanksgiving a few years back, I stayed up alone all night smoking the turkey. Outside in the cold the bourbon helped. About three in the morning the fire went out and the starter fluid was empty. Seeing sunrise with a raw turkey and disapproving in-laws didn't seem like an option so off into the dark for a solution. About half way to the gas station convenience store I realized that I was sock footed (bright red socks, it was the holidays and all).

The country roads were deserted. When I drug in; groggy, unkept and red footed, the lady behind the counter was 'concerned' especially since she had probably not seen anyone in hours.
