Hi Everyone,

Given the RT lobby has been a bit stale lately, I'm going to be making a new auto-generated RT game every Sunday to liven it up a bit.

This is your chance to make suggestions or requests as to what you want to play... or if you're a grunt maybe try out Maps or Game Options that you haven't played before.


Depending on how many requests we have, I might set up a schedule of when game types are coming up and how many requests a single player can make.

And who knows if we get more interest in RT, an old friend might make a long awaited reappearance.

Whenever I advertise Major Command to friends I praise this site for the variety of available maps so how about a different map every week?
I might be biased as a geographer though... anyway I really liked when South America was free to play RT
Would it be possible to award a weekly UDO high score for these games auto generated games with a monthly top 10? Ever since I've been playing tournaments this winter, non-tournament games seem pointless hence the request :)

As a means to invite new players I think these weekly special games to be 1 vs 1 games as , coz it seems there are a lot of cheaters (and awols and ragequitters) in 4 player real time games; I think such games might actually chase some new players off the site (they often complain about it in chatter)

Also, different settings would be nice; no reinforcements, border reinforcements etc.

I have found virtually every time I play a 4 person real time game I have a horrible experience. I strongly recommend to limiting it to 1 vs 1 games.

I think the problem of AWOLs and ragequitters should be dealt with and not adapting the game options around them. I am angry about my last RT game and must say that it takes away all the fun. I believe few people play RT because of the strategy of skipping turns ....

Might I suggest some fixed force games?

Fixed force is definitely something that isn't played much, but I'd be reluctant to create fixed force games of the week simply because you need to be commander class to join the game, not just to start it. So I think it would be difficult to get them to fill.

Nevertheless I'll add it to the list of settings that are requested :)

Players avoid RT because STRATEGY is useless against the 3 grenade throwers:
- the INSANE
- the SUICIDAL
Those are mental illnesses, so not much we can do
- But we can do something about the 3rd problem - players who failed basic math, like ADDITION (they have no where near the troops required to take out a player, so give the game to the next player)

One thing that cud be done (and I confess I don't know how or how difficult it wud be to do) to attract more players, especially those high ranking types that have up to (mostly probably) 100 points to lose, wud be to somehow limit the number of points trading hands in an RT game. Maybe as option, an RT game wud be worth say 25 points regardless of rank. The winner wud win 25 X number of players....the losers wud lose 25 points each. I love RT but admit sometimes the rank of the opposing player(s) can make a difference. And yes, 4 player singles in RT is like swimming in a baby pool surrounded by piranhas.

You've made it so that grunts can't make RT games and gave them only 3 maps to choose from. Asking now what players want when you already know all of us grunts yearn for any additional map or option is kind of lame... Most grunts are aware by now that MC is in favor of premium members and higher ranks in terms of density of starting positions and regions,rigged dice and for premiums even RT game creation and AWOL control...Who knows maybe even points are fake... So I would say when you already intend to,include at least few more maps in RT,no need to falsely ask for opinions. Spammers can also be dealt with pretty easily e.g. remove skipping turns (meaning skip becomes immediate game loss) or at least reduce awol to 1 possible per game,include forfeit option,and last but not least fix those damn bugs. Most skips happen due to map not loading,invisible troops or sudden calculating blocks which to be honest many times seem so conveniently on purpose... Another thing you could fix is to add a sound notification at the start of ones turn,it's very useful...
I doubt that you will even display this post since this subject is a big hush hush for some reason.When i talked to other players I've got that they also know this but don't know how to prove it or would you even care... I imagine you've already lost many users due to these imperfections,now you might even block me,but hell,at least I've spoken... :) and with good intentions too.I hope you will consider my suggestions and improve since MC has big potential and enough charm to it to keep me tolerating this long regardless of it's flaws... I don't know ur history on the site but if there's a 'rigged' advantage then I've been left out too. I started out a grunt and became a paying member within 5 games because I wanted more. Have you ever splurged the 5 dollars to check it out for yourself since you have such strong opinions about it but yet are still here? I don't think there's a better site, although I haven't tried them all I'm sure, for playing risk online. I applaud Beanz's initiative and don't see any downside to it at all. And yes ur entitled to your opinion and now I have given mine. BTW, I'm always up for a game with anyone, anytime shud you so desire. Best of luck.

Thanks for voicing your opinion Samuel, even if it is criticism it's constructive and that's definitely helpful to us.

Five or so years ago I was in the same boat as you, played lots of RT games, loved it, only thought of upgrading whenever I wanted to try out a new map or when I saw someone who was gold playing in games with me. It was only after I upgraded that I realized what the biggest problem to grunts like me was, and that was a loss of connection to the forums. So much happens on here that people who just stay in the RT lobby miss. In the past people have come onto the forums and requested RT games on different maps be created, and the Centcom team has been happy to create a few games based on those requests, but the requests were so rare that it barely ever happened.
Now is the first time that we've put links in the game descriptions, so I am hoping that it gives the RT crowd a better voice and if we get a lot of requests, the loyal RT players will get to try out all of the maps/game modes that they want to with these weekly games.


As for the game engine being bias towards strategist and commander class players, I can assure you that it is not, yes things like tournaments are available to them which means they can net bigger points than players who only play RT games, but when it comes down to deployments and rolls, every player has the same odds to win a roll, to get a good drop or to even go first in a game.
As for the way AWOL players are treated and deferred troops, they have been big discussion points in the past and do favor strategist and commander class players but they are going to be changed in the future.

The bugs have been the bane of MajorCommand over the years, and it got to the point a few years back when RT games were unplayable and even casual games would take the better part of 30mins to take a turn. At that point in time the original programmer(s) had left and there was nobody around who fully understood what was going on, and why there were so many bugs. MrMarcos came onboard and has done an amazing job ironing out the wrinkles to get us to the point where we can play again at a quite manageable pace.
Then it was decided that instead of trying to mend the archaic flash player version of MajorCommand, we would start to build a whole new engine in HTML5. The Sheriff, Marcos and ibnutri are doing an amazing job... and the new engine is not very far away from starting to be tested by "onyx donor" players. So there's something to hold onto, here's a video of just how snappy it should be, one day in the future.



As for right now, I'm here, looking at this thread many times a day to see what people want to see in RT games, so drop a request here and you might see those settings show up sooner than you know :)

No I actually didn't,I do not own a credit card nor do I have the luxury of paying for a game...But that is not the reason why I'm dissatisfied.Even if I would buy a game for what it represents,I just hate pay-to-win ones,and those with purchase-in additions that put the void between premiums and casuals,so that the skill becomes nigh obsolete...You may think I'm overstating this,but as you said,to each his own opinion,this is after all my personal experience and perspective,although I'm not alone as I mentioned...I did try many risk online games,and although I will admit that this one is my favorite for it's graphics and simplicity,I do stand by what I said about it's flaws. Having no good competition doesn't necessary mean you are good enough. Do you personally really dislike all my propositions and critics? By the way we did play together and are playing one casual balkan peninsula at the moment actually ☻ thanx and good luck to you to ☻

As I said before upgrading your user class doesn't increase your chance to win in any way, it merely adds additional types/more games that you can play... in fact some of the best players on Majorcommand are grunts that play a majority of real time games... Take riskpeter for instance, a grunt, who was once on top of the leaderboard and has the record for most consecutive defeated opponents (which he set by playing mostly 4player RT classic games).
As for your suggestions, they are all things that would make Majorcommand better, but rather than putting band-aids over the top of lots of small things, the decision was made to fix the vast majority of them together by building the new game engine.

Anyway, good luck in our balkans game and I'll see you on the battlefield :)
