Is it OK to "hold a player hostage"?

I'm currently in a game where the other player obviously delays the end, just to optimize the timing of his wins and losses and point gains. I know this may sounds like I'm paranoid or something, but I come from another risk-based site (namely Conquer Club), and I can assure you that I've seen shit like that and worse quite a few times.

The only time it would OK to hold a player hostage is if it were to optimize for a card take out. The player has cards, and by putting 50 troops between him and the other players would be a smart move in an end game situation.

like Bado said this is a good tactic and totally fair...many players do it in an escalate setting game where cards really matter...i see no problem with it, just have to adapt battle strategy against it.

Or do you mean the count down timer once you have finished your turn?.. if you mean this i would say no...once finished click end turn

I think that max was talking about leaving the whole game sit there until the opportune moment to eliminate the last player and get them the most points that they can rather than holding a player hostage in game from others that might take them out.

There was a bit of a conflict about this a fair while back, not going to say anymore on that topic, but yeah it's definitely not OK

I'm inclined to point out that all of those, as you said, are 1v1 games. Even IF, as you contend, BadDice DID manipulate and "hold hostage" a few games, it seems to me that it's beyond the realm of possibility that she could have really changed the final outcome of her amazing 92-consecutive defeated opponents run by very many. Regardless of those 6 games, she'd have still beaten my mark and be 1st on the scoreboard.

In EVERY single one of the games I supposedly held someone hostage, they left the game VERY EARLY and went awol, I think in daangenaam's case it wasn't done on purpose ... cause I saw him not logging on for days ... maybe something happened I don't know ... but in every single one of those games the opponent left me WAITING ... and abandoned the games ... so I felt back then that a game which was abandoned I can end whenever I want ...

I understood back then in my first week that it is wrong to assume that, and NEVER did that again!

I'm not proud to say that I was one of those who initially believed the accusations. Was I jealously trying to protect my place on the top of that scoreboard metric? Probably. Later, after I looked at the situation closely, I realized my mistake. Today, I take just as much pride in my 2nd spot, with 82-consecutive defeated opponents, as I did when it was 1st. I lost that top spot to a pretty damn good player, no shame in that.

Interestingly, other than posts from 2011, when he just joined and people didn't know him any better (that's over two years ago ... we are halfway into 2013) ... his profile is filled with hatred only ... a 3rd party ... talking shit about ab ... and he just left it there for over year (he just deleted it now)

Basically sageblue was talking there about how ab cheats ...
