Do I have to hold a country by myself to get the bonus, or does my team have to hold it?

and when i say country, i mean group of provinces/countries that make up a country/continent that is required to get the big troop bonuses

You have to hold any bonus yourself, it can't be jointly held by a team. Hope that helps.
