Map Idea: More of Latin America

I adore maps but I have no concept on how to make a map of this nature so I must ask...

Any chance of a Latin American or Caribbean map coming up in the warehouses?

I think as far as IDEAS go, it's a good one. That being said, the cartographers have publicly said that they don't plan on doing much with new maps until all the problems are fixed. I'd say give it a try, see what you come up with, Valdus.

What's the difference between Latin America and South America? I thought they were the same thing.

I think a map of Central America and the Caribbean would have possibilities.

Latin America goes from Mexico to Argentina, a map like this would be interesting with some ship blocks as in philipines/balkans. It would be a different dynamic that the one we have with southamerica. Still, I think there are a lot of others geographical sites to explore before this (I would like to see a caucasus or scandinavia map) Still, any new map is welcome, so you should give it a try Valus.

I was working on trying to make a map for the Caribbean (Boardering states of the US and the northern countries of South America) a while back, (mind you on a scale of 1 to Shepherd, Widowmakers, and RjBeals, I'm below -50), but I'll see if I can drum it back up again

Oh I saw South America, very nice. But being from the Caribbean I would like to wage war and bloodshed on my own people.

I would love to work on a map of the Caribbean with Central, South and North American bordering. One small question though....

Where do I begin, and I mean that in the purest sense, how would I even start to do this?

Do you create the map? Use an existing one, or?

you have to find a map that you can use (or draw one yourself) and then modify it a bit to look like a MajCom-map
Once you've made a start, you post it here, and everybody else will chime in with ideas and suggestions

I'd say that the starting point is just coming up with any old map of the region and then drawing in the bterritories/commands and any special features that the map should have. There may be new features available in the future, but I would stick to specials that already exist on other maps for now. Also a little commentary on time period/theme/setting of the map.

We can all help lend thought on the map balance at that point and add thoughts.

Once you've hammered through that, then either start map shopping if you've got the chops, or see if you can enlist one of our resident experts to take it on. Or put it in drydock until the new stuff (including map creation interface) is finished.

This one already has great nation contours and colors, but alas, no historical flavor, and we need more of the United States no?

Marc normally I would be enraged by your comment, but I showed the map on the big screen to my students and WHAM I thought, holy crap this place was MADE for piracy. Look at all the KEYS!!! I wonder if a pirate map could be made with a basis in that.

With that in mind I scrounged a bit and found...Johnson's Caribbean Map
