South America: sannheten vs brianstheman

Brian vs Sann in Far East Asia
Armor ready!

Philosophical Question: If two territory battles take place, with a victor claiming new land in each, but then the territory is immediately Scaptured by the losing opponent, did the initial battle ever really happen?

Sann prevails in Far East Asia.
Brian succeeds in South America.

Both victories nullified by Scapture, as Brian reclaims Far East Asia, and Sann regains South America.

It's a good point - but then philosophical questions are dangerous things - after all: is any of this really happening Brian?

Yes. I read in the New York Times about someone rolling a 4v3 on a boat in the Sea of Japan successfully, and confirmed in game log of a Sea of Japan game that it actually occurred.

Depends on Forgotten Kingdom / Rivals of Rome / Conflict Africa outcomes.
Sann started with 10.
He lost 2 (Classic Massive & Euro Massive).
He has won, or will shortly 5 (1984, Barbarossa, North America, Sea of Japan, USA).

So winning one of the three above gets Sann the tournament.

ZORBS: The 120 points to runner's up - do they get divided in accordance with number of squares held?

To answer brians philosophical question....

Normally you would be right. This actually happened last round with sann and Cards swapping territories.
Unfortunately for you though, periwinkle lost USA and thus sann's newly acquired Far East Asia is no longer a lone cube, making it unscaptureable :(

and his awards question....

The 120 points get split evenly. With periwinkle out, there are currently 6 runners-up. (20 points each) However, xsb and Cards are still in danger so this could drop to 5 or 4 runners-up (24 or 30 points each).

Btw, sannheten now has 14 cubes according to my calculations. Unless he loses all three remaining games, he will win.

Yes, congratulations to Sannheten, well done indeed! ...and congratulations also to Zorbmonkey - for having the brilliance to conceive of, and create such an ambitious and complex tournament, and then to actually manage to administrate such a beast!

....
Sann Terts
  1. 1984
  2. Mars
  3. The Twelve Domains
  4. The Forgotten Kingdom
  5. Barbarossa
  6. Far East Asia
  7. Mexican American War
  8. North America
  9. Philippines
  10. Sea of Japan
  11. South America via Scapture (Asia/Mexico/Antiquus)
  12. Classic Antiquus
  13. Classic MINI
  14. USA
  15. Classic Massive via Scapture (Mars/Mexico/Antiquus)

Equals 15 terts for Sann and the victory.
Also Cards is KO'd. Interestingly a Peri win in Antiquus would have prevented 2 Scatpures and kept this one going slightly longer.
