I was wondering how it works when you need to skip a turn. What about the deferred troops?

Well what you do if the wrong person goes first is just abandon the game by going AWOL or sending a message to NewSheriffInTown asking to have it deleted. Or you play it for fun, making sure to remember not to report it as a league win at the end. I know the seemingly logical thing to do would be just to save all that hassle and skip a turn but there is actually a reason for doing it this way. I will copy/paste an explanation I wrote for someone last season:

In 1v1 games, there is a built-in function that ensures that the second player recieves the same amount of troops to deploy as the first person does. This is an attempt to mitigate the first player advantage. If you just skip the first turn then the second player starts the game but it will bypas this built-in funtionality, and actually put whoever skipped the turn at a disadvantage. The only time it would not give the person who skipped a disadvantage would be if the initial deploy for both players was already at the minimum possible, 3. Also, if you skip a turn then obviously you shouldn't deploy deferred troops.. that is something that people might get wrong or forget. AND if you start turn on a map like twelve domains it will still deploy on castles and such.. it's not a good idea to skip unless it's a normal type map with only a 3 deploy basically.

I have trouble understanding your post, so I should just ask sheriff too close all excess games?

48 players times 10 would be like 500 games to be closed by Sheriff, isnt that a lot of work?

There should be no deferred troops or skipped turns at all. If you accidentally skip a turn (and the other person plays on) then by all means use your deferred troops. Your opponent may skip a turn for you since they're such a good sport. In that case both would probably want to skip deferred troops, but it's up to the players.

You only delete games that the computer assigns the wrong person first. That could only happen on a rematch with someone. On the first match the computer randomly picks who plays first when your game starts. You just have to remember to make sure the other person starts the next time.

You also don't actually have to delete any games either - if both players just go AWOL the game will delete itself. If it annoys you to have false turns popping up, then you may want to send them to the Sheriff.

This was a response to Biosphere's question, 'the player who sets up the game goes first?' or something like that.



No, not quite. You play each opponent twice, Whoever goes first in the initial game MUST go second in the other game. It doesn't matter who sets up the games. If you join a game someone else started and the order is not correct it is polite to set up an alternative game and invite your opponent.

League Settings

If you know you want to play next season then let me know of your opinion of what settings we should use.

Choose only one of each type, like you would when creating a game.

Whichever setting ends up being chosen will be the same across all league games and divisions for the season.

I'd like to see an escalite setting at somepoint, but I'd like to continue with the current settings for at least one more season for sample size purposes.

yes i would like 2 play in next seasons league matches & i think flat rate makes it alot fairer 1vs1 & if u have some of ur regions trapped by neutrals the anywhere option gives u the ability for u 2 get ur troops out 2 play more easily, the only change i would like 2 c next season is 2 drop the nukes map & replace it with the classic mini map??? personally i'm not keen on the nukes map ;-)

I really want to see those site wide statistics of 1v1 games that are escalate, I think that it'll be a higher win rate going 2nd than flat rate games. At the end of the day I don't really mind what the settings end up
