Suggestion: A "Who's Online" page

We already have ways of tracking whos online in the forums; the little green icon by the name or the list at the bottom of the main forum page. However, they are not much use for what I am suggesting.

I propose you make a list of "Who's Online" almost like the scoreboard, showing rank, and the ability to message them like in chat directly from that page.

Once Cory has worked his magic then Real Time should hopefully be a much more stable and rewarding experience. When that happens people are inevitibly going to want to seek out players and friends to play, but the real time chat is still lacking a bit in this department - mainly because you have to have the page open. A list of just whos online generally in MajCom could go a long way to getting people communicating more with each other / starting up random game challenges etc. I know I certainly would.

What about an option in the settings to make your name not appear on that list?

I think you should remove it.

1. Allows users to see thread titles they normally cannot. In most cases this won't matter, but 1299 cases are titled pretty specifically.

2. We're going to get some vigilantes who see the forum spammers and think they are multi-players. No need to worry people unnecessarily.

3. I think what the OP wanted was a list of who was available to play/chat currently. Forum users are a small subset of that I expect.

Yeah I agree, thought I suspect what you see is different than one non-staff see.

We can see the title of the thread that someone's on, although I don't know if it will display a thread in the private forum or not. Maybe mark is seeing more than that? But, really, just a list of everyone online would be sufficient, not necessary to show exactly WHERE on the site they are...

A field or colour showing if people are online now against their name on the score board would be good.

That's just who is in the Forums, not who's online and taking turns.
