My musical tastes seem to be more or less frozen in 1994, but one relatively recent song that I've been enjoying is "Panic Switch" by Silversun Pickups (whose music sounds sorta like lost b-sides by the Breeders).

dude - i LOVE silversun pickups. I've loved them since their first album. They are like smashing pumpkins to me. You've got great taste.

You owe it to yourself to watch this 5 minutes of guitar greatness.

Serioulsy - ignore the hair pushes and wierd faces. Just appreciate the technicality of what he's doing with that ibanez. It's amazing. Gives me chillls.

when i lived in texas he was a minor god there. 2nd to jesus of course. there were vai murals every where. college station.

Musically i tend to immerse myself into a genre for a while and then move on to something else. Last fall it was all things yacht rock, and more recently I've been digging the side of 70s glam that spawned punk. I'll spare you all the standard Bowie and T-Rex and give you some more interesting examples:

it was a few years ago, I did a show for WRUV which is in burlington, vt, 2k watts. it was called Free Robot Radio and my co-host was an actual robot. We played robot music.

listened to that april show at work today. There were some good tunes mixed in - but i had to keep it real low. I remember that mux tape you sent me a few years ago had a bunch of good electronic stuff in it - what can you recommend?

* Electronic Stuff I Like:
- Daft Punk
- Andain
- Boards of Canada (some stuff)
- The Prodigy

Actually - I tend to lean more to the hip hopish sound in electronic (like this) not sure if it's your flavor or not.

You know, I don't have the greatest ear for music on earth, but I've never quite understood why everyone thinks the pickups sound like the pumpkins. It could be that the first time I heard Lazy Eye, I was dead convinced that the Breeders had gotten back together (Last Splash is one of my favorite albums of all time). And I'm a Pumpkins fan from way back, tho they lost me after Mellon Collie (which would've been a great single album, but no, Billy Corgan had to go and try and re-create The Wall and pretty much destroy the band).

you know honestly - the best part for me was the intro with the robot / reggae song. That was really cool - a real song ? Or just made for the robot show?
