I have clicked on map / games I want to join, and as soon as I do the map picture changes to something else and the game parameters are NOT the ones I wanted on the original map...what gives ?

That happens to me too, but when I go to the game it is the one I thought I joined

Yeah, when you click join, the map image changes to Classic Mini. That's just a glitch in UI which will be fixed when we overhaul the frontend. It doesn't affect the game or settings though. The game you joined, will still be the game you joined. It's only the wrong image that is returned afterwards.
