Today I noticed that my shiny golden captain's emblem had been quietly removed while I slept, and replaced by an equally shiny, but somewhat more diminutive lieutenant emblem.

Bizarrely, I felt relief.

I enjoyed my time as Major, particularly in light of clarkenfeld's wry observation that it would be rude not to become a chord: 'D Flat Major'! Recently, however, I have been haemorrhaging points and I was aware that my current trajectory would inevitably result in various demotions.

Luck is a mercurial mistress; sometimes we seem to be in her good books, and yet at others we seem to be on the receiving end of an unprovoked and protracted punishment. It would certainly seem that I am in receipt of the latter, although objectively, perhaps it is simply perspective - we do externalise our personal failings; after all, it is more palpable for us to feel unfairly wronged, than to admit that we ourselves are to blame.

Anyway, putting the vagaries of chance to one side, I have returned to lieutenant, and was surprised to find that I feel relief. I feel more inclined to join my beloved 1v1 CE games without concerning myself about losing a ton of points, and I was wondering if anyone else had experienced a similar feeling of relaxation upon demotion?
